Bio
Dora Fiammetta Perini (NYC, 1995) lives and works in Venice. She attended the Istituto Italiano di Fotografia in Milan in 2018 and later earned a BA in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins in London in 2022, where she was nominated for the Fine Art Nova Award. In 2023, she completed an MA in Contemporary Art Practice at the Royal College of Art. She exhibited her work in Milan during MIART with the London-based gallery Des Bains in 2021, and with Hypha Studios in London in 2023. In 2024, she was selected as an artist-in-residence at Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa.

Statement
The body is the origin of my practice and its primary system of orientation. I understand what I work with as extensions of the body—bodies in relation—and as conditions through which the body is becoming and unbecoming. Everything is, to me, body.
As a container, the body generates the first duality, initiating a polarized field of relations. From this division—inside and outside, content and container—emerges an ongoing inquiry into boundaries, the layers that separate and connect, and the tensions in between. Polarization emerges as co-dependence—an ongoing condition in which the body exists only through relation and exchange.
I work through installation, sculpture, photography, performance, drawing from domestic and autobiographical narratives, juxtaposed to consumer culture and social architectures. The figure of the Fat Lady emerges not as a literal body, but as a condensation of excess and regulations—through which divergence from the norm becomes a relational rupture, a body in exhaustion but perpetual restlessness.
For me, food functions as a lens through which belief and power are interrogated. Acts of feeding, withholding, binging, and loss expose how systems of faith, control, and dependence are embedded in everyday consumption. The work turns toward what these processes leave behind. I am drawn to what appears damaged, burnt, excessive, or marginal—what is typically discarded or excluded. Here, residues become sites of attention rather than failure. By holding together nourishment and waste, attraction and repulsion, care and violence, the work sustains polarization as a lived condition, allowing for meaning to emerge through what remains beyond use, regulation, and desire—in, through, and out of the body.
